Hey everyone from wamsuttawindowservice.com
I want share with you some information about fiberglass windows as an alternative to vinyl....
These are some excerpts taken from Comfortline's website:
"FIBERFRAME Windows and Doors are built with the one material that is stable over time, even in harsh environments — pultruded fiberglass. Fiberglass outperforms steel, aluminum, wood and vinyl.
Glass has the lowest expansion and contraction rate of any fenestration material. When glass is supported by glass, the entire window or door unit benefits from the stability of fiberglass."
The major problem with vinyl residential windows is their lifespan. Replacing windows in your whole house is not cheap. Vinyl windows are usually the cheapest but they begin to fail after some time. The vinyl frame contracts and expands at a much different rate than the glass its holding, causing the frame to pull away from the glass. The window frames start to bow and let water in around the glass causing it to fail and become foggy. The windows may warp and twist and no longer stay up or become hard to open. Fiberglass frames expand and contract at much closer rates to the insulated glass its holding. So much so that Comfortline guarantees their product for life! Not to mention you can get them in almost any color, including a wood grain finish, or paint them yourself. Check them out at http://fiberframe.com

boston window repair
Hi Everyone,
Window repair mailers recently went out to the occupants of Court Square Press in Boston. We have had a few additional calls to come repair windows there but to make it cost effective for the residents, we need to have around 10 windows to fix per trip. If you live there and have not scheduled your repairs please contact us asap. Some units have a block and tackle balancer or spring that moves with the window, other units have windows with spiral wound or ultralift balancers that remain stationary while the spring extends out of it.
Pretty boring stuff, I know. But these are things you don't think about until you try to open your windows for ventalation and they won't stay open. As always for any window needs, whether repairs or installation, please contact us at:

broken windows
Hi Everyone,
We get many phone calls from people who have big aluminum or metal windows in their condo's or apartments that are broken. The windows don't go up and down, and if they do go up they need to be held open with stick. We want people to know that just because your windows are old doesn't mean you need to replace them. They can be repaired to like new operating condition for a lot less than replacing them. If you're running into any issues like this please send us an email. We will gladly come and take a look and give you a free estimate for the repairs. As always, we are fully licensed and insured!
